A4FC Rematriation of Art is a multi-series program on rematriation to land + water of Felix Cove Tamal-Liwa through relation to plants and natural pigments of Felix Cove. In this workshop series participants will collaborate together by working with Indigenous identified & multi-cultural artists to explore plant pigments of Felix Cove Tomales Bay, natural dye applications, illustration, painting techniques and storytelling through graphic art. Participants will have a chance to learn about plants, natural pigment making and to create art inspired by connection to Coast Miwok land.
Workshops will be led by Indigenous & multi-cultural identified artists Renee Ring Castro (Ohlone) & Elissa Callen (Mexican-American) w/ guest presenter Jaclyn Fawn Mendez (Yurok, Wašiw, Surigaonon).
This is a multi-series workshop. Participants are asked to be available for July 2nd online meeting, July 5th in person visit to Felix Cove and one or both of the in person art making days of July 13th & 20th. Native/Indigenous & BIPOC identified people are encouraged to sign up!
