SUMMARY:Soap & Lotion Making Workshop
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday November 18th  – Wild Oat Hollow is hosting a soap and lotion making class – how to make climate beneficial goat milk soap. \nCome learn how to make your own soap and luxurious lotion at home. In this 3-hour class\, you will be guided through the entire process of both soap making and lotion making: we will make two different soaps using local\, sustainable ingredients (organic oils\, animal fats\, hydrosols\, butters & essential oils)\, determining our recipe on a soap calculator\, safety procedures and making your soap. \nYou will then get to decorate your soap with a variety of dried and fresh herbs. You will go home with 2 bars of soap in a silicone (reusable) mold and 2 ounces of the lotion in a glass jar. Note that it takes 2.5 weeks for the soap to cure and be ready for use. You must wear closed-toe shoes to this class. \n \nWhat You Will Learn \n\nLearn about all of the ingredients you can get from your back yard and local farmers to make your own cosmetics\nGo home with full-size products that we’ve made and a detailed handout with recipes\, ingredient information & instructions\nThe benefits of the various ingredients will be discussed (e.g. oils\, butters\, clays\, herbs\, salts\, teas\, essential oils) so you can customize the products based on your needs and preferences\nThe ingredients are organic\, ethically wild-harvested\, gluten-free – highlighting how we can make our own skin care products from local ingredients\nA list of recommended books and supplies\nA pot of hot chai and snacks will be provided during our break between soap and lotion making\nA tour of Natalia’s transitional climate beneficial farm the garden\, orchard\, sheep and chickens\nClimate Beneficial yarn\, goat milk soap\, lotion\, herbal products from Combing Forces and other farm products will be available for purchase. Just have fun!\n\nAbout the Organizers \nFounded by Sarah Keiser\, Wild Oat Hollow\, in 2012\, Dandelion Skin Care was acquired by herbalist and maker Natalia Bertotti earlier this year. Natalia and Sarah recognized they share similar values of locally made\, climate beneficial skin care products. \nNatalia has been a practicing herbalist for 6 years and she is in collaboration with another mentor\, Catherine Abby Risch\, who has been a practicing herbalist for 50 years.
