DESCRIPTION:Come immerse yourself in the sea of Sonoma County Blue! Fibershed member\, Craig Wilkinson\, has provided our community with it’s first locally grown\, Japanese indigo vat. This is a unique indigo recipe as the color comes from composted indigo (sukumo) opposed to an extract or pigment. \nDuring the 90 minutes one-one-one access to our special\, composted indigo vat\, you’ll get a chance to achieve different shades of blue through multiple dips on fabric\, yarn or fiber. Some shibori supplies are available if you want to play with resist techniques\, though we recommend you prepare your fabric ahead of time. \nPlease note\, this is self-serve with minimal instruction. There will be a brief 15 minute introduction to the history of the vat\, how to properly use it and rinse your fabric. This is NOT a class. \nPlease weigh your items (dry) ahead of time to ensure it falls within the weight category (see below). If you have more than the allotted amount\, you may sign up for 2 sessions. Maximum weight is double to allow use of the vat for other users. \nInstructions for properly preparing your items for a successful dye experience will be e-mailed the week prior to your session. \nPlease wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little blue and bring a plastic bag to bring home your wet items. \nThe studio has aprons\, gloves\, tongs and a small supply of resist tools on hand. \nNitty Gritty Details: Access to the vat is based on Registration. No walk-ins.
