SUMMARY:Hoes Down Harvest Festival
DESCRIPTION:The Hoes Down Harvest Festival is dedicated to honoring and promoting the knowledge of agricultural arts and sustainable rural living through inspiration and education. For over 30 years\, the Hoes Down has generated valuable resources for local and statewide organizations working on projects which benefit sustainable agriculture and rural communities.\nSince the beginning\, Hoes Down has generated valuable funding for local and statewide organizations working on projects that support sustainable agriculture and rural communities. We are so proud that with your help\, we raised over $100\,000 to help these organizations with their important work! \nWe are grateful for your support and excited to share that this year’s festival will be held on Saturday\, October 4\, 2025 at the Full Belly Farm in Guinda\, California. This year’s Hoes Down theme is Grounded We Grow\, which was inspired by feeling that so much is beyond our control. In a world that can feel uncertain\,  it is so important to stay rooted in community\, support our neighbors\, and find joy together. Hoes Down is a celebration of that spirit- bringing people together to share good food\, get hands in the dirt and feel the earth beneath dancing feet. These moments keep us grounded and growing and we look forward to sharing them with you! \nScroll down for more information on this year’s Hoes Down including ticket prices and more. We will be updating eco-farm.org throughout the summer as we add more details. \nLocation\nFull Belly Farm 16141 Road 43\, Guinda\, CA 95637 \nTickets\nTickets will be available online only at eco-farm.org beginning on August 1st. \nRegister Now

SUMMARY:Locavore Wonderland - Berkeley Farmers Markets
DESCRIPTION:The farmers’ market is not just a place for groceries: it’s a great place to find gifts! Preserves\, aged balsamic vinegar\, locally roasted coffee\, hot sauce\, fair trade chocolate\, and local honey are great gifts available all year round. Over the month of December\, join us at the farmers’ market for a holiday gifting series featuring weekly pop-up vendors selling even more gifts for the foodies in your lives—plus handmade jewelry\, woodwork\, soaps & body care\, pottery\, and other handmade goods. \nThe Berkeley Farmers’ Markets are open-air marketplaces where California farmers bring fresh\, locally-grown produce and farm-processed foods to sell directly to consumers. Our markets feature fruits\, vegetables\, nuts\, baked goods\, jams and preserves\, juices\, olive oils\, meat\, cheese\, prepared foods\, and flowers. We are committed to supporting small-scale farmers who practice sustainable agriculture. \nShopping at a farmers market is a wholly unique experience where farmers\, local artisans and shoppers get to know each other\, do business\, and help each other. When you shop at the farmers’ market\, you shop local\, you shop sustainable\, and you shop community. \nIt can be hard to leave the house in the winter season\, especially when your shopping can be as little as a click away. But the wintertime farmers’ market is a special experience worth savoring. Things are a little slower. There’s more time to connect with your vendors. \nOur wintertime Pop-up Gifting Series will feature even more vendors with unique products that tell the story of the shop-local movement. Right at the farmers’ market\, the same place you can buy ingredients for your family dinner\, you can purchase a hand-crafted gift from the person who made it. \nBundle up and slow down this winter season. Take the time to enjoy the thriving community that sustains the slow food movement. Shop local for your holiday gifts at the farmers’ market\, and you may find that the real gift is the experience. \nAbout Ecology Center \nFounded in 1969\, the Ecology Center is a nonprofit organization located in Berkeley\, California that focuses on improving the health and the environmental impacts of urban residents.
We address critical issues through a model of education\, demonstration\, replication\, and advocacy. \nLocation \nTuesdays \n12/5/23 \n12/12/23 \n12/19/23 \n\nSouth Berkeley Farmers’ Market\nAdeline St @ 63rd Street\n2-6:30PM\n\n  \nThursdays \n12/7/23 \n12/14/23 \n12/21/23 \n\nNorth Berkeley Farmers’ Market\nShattuck Ave @ Vine St\n3-7pm\n\n  \nSaturday \n12/2/23 \n12/9/23 \n12/16/23 \n12/23/23 \n\nDowntown Berkeley Farmers’ Market\nCenter St @ MLK\n10-3pm\n\n

I am so looking forward to this great opportunity to be in the company of knitters learning more about our favourite subject – yarn. I do hope you will be able to join us for this lovely day. \nEvent Schedule and Details: \nArrival and welcome between 10:15am and 10:30am with kick off at 10:30am sharp at Red Creek Farm. \n10:30am – Peggy introduces the Red Creek Farm flock and the farm’s Climate beneficial practices as well as her dye garden. \n11am – 12:30pm – Shearing and Skirting \n12:30pm – 1:30pm:  Lunch on the Back Deck: Participants will be provided a menu from which to choose the contents of a boxed picnic lunch. \n1:30pm: Sarah and her Yarn Recipes – and the art and process of yarn design. \n3:15pm – 4:00pm  Shopping\, questions and farewells. \n$295.00 per person \nThere is an array of accommodation options in Ukiah for those who would like to extend their time in Mendocino County\, including the historic Vichy Springs Resort if you really want to relax and unwind. Use of the baths\, pools and hiking trails are included if you stay at Vichy\, but pools and baths are available for day use also. \nIf there are participants who overnight in Ukiah\, I will host a knitting circle on the evening of the 29th (we can cast on our special event favor together perhaps or just bring your current wip) \nAN IMPORTANT NOTE: Peggy and Jonathan are opening their home as well as their farm to us. They care (joyfully!) for their young grandson there too. In recognition of that\, I ask that you please test for Covid before you come up. Most of our day will be spent outside\, but masks are acceptable for anyone who would be more comfortable wearing one\, of course. \nBookings will open on February 23\, 2023. \nPlease get in touch if you have any questions: GAYLE@PACIFICKNITTINGRETREATS.COM
