SUMMARY:Laneus Shawl\, Hat or Sweater - Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The ‘Roosimine’ technique is used in Teti Lutsak’s Laneus series of patterns and creates beautiful embroidery inlays on the surface of your knitting.  This technique is not applied\, but incorporated into the work as you go.  Choose one of the Laneus patterns (there is a hat\, shawl and pullover in the series) and make your own beautiful botanical knit.  We will learn the origins and how to execute the Roosimine  and review the patterns and potential yarn choices in the first session – and then check in in the second session to review and troubleshoot.  Some familiarity with colourwork is helpful – but not essential.  No homework – we will swatch in the first class! \nRegister Here\n  \nDATES/TIMES\n2 Saturdays; January 27 and February 17\, 2024 \n2:00 – 4:00PM \n  \nLEVEL\nIntermediate – Confident with casting on. the knit and purl stitch\, reading a pattern. It helps to have experience working with two colors in the form of stripes\, but is not required. \n\nMATERIALS (not included)\nThere are so many wonderful options for this pattern! The patterns will work best with sport to light DK gauge weight yarns. Feel free to play! We’ll be swatching in class to make sure your yarn choices work well together. \nPattern Options: \nHAT \n\nUS 3 (3.25 mm) 16″ circular and DPN needles\n2 contrasting colors of sport or light DK weight yarn (or two held together as equivalent) – see sizing for yardage quantities of each color\nstitch markers\n\nSHAWL \n\nUS 7 (4.5 mm) circular and DPN needles\n2 contrasting colors of sport or light DK weight yarn (or two held together as equivalent) – see sizing for yardage quantities of each color\nstitch markers\n\nPULLOVER \n\nUS 4 (4.5 mm) circular and DPN needles\n2 contrasting colors of worsted weight yarn (or two held together as equivalent) – see sizing for yardage quantities of each color\nstitch markers\n\nHOMEWORK \n\nChoose and purchase pattern from the list above.\nVisit Fiber Circle Studio for purchasing yarn OR contact us if you already have a yarn you want to use to see if it’ll work for your chosen pattern.\n\nPlease note that this is not a class on how to knit sweaters\, so if you choose the pullover option\, it is recommended that you have previous sweater knitting experience\, plan to have additional support\, or are happy “just going for it”!  \nAges: 18+\nSkill Requirements: Confident with casting on. the knit and purl stitch\, reading a pattern. It helps to have experience working with two colors in the form of stripes\, but is not required.\nTaught by: Gayle Ravenscroft
