SUMMARY:Weaving Bootcamp for Beginners
DESCRIPTION:Weaving Bootcamp for Beginners: Weaving with Chunky Yarn and Wool Roving \n  \nIn this weaving bootcamp\, you will learn the basics of weaving using thick\, luxurious yarns and wool roving (it’s that magical fluffy stuff that looks like clouds of yarn!!) You will learn beginner-level weaving skills such as how to warp a loom\, weave with a needle\, head weave with roving\, and how to make a decorative fringe. To hone your new skills\, you will work on completing one chunky wool wall hanging\, which measures 12″ X 22″ in size. Each wall hanging comes with a wooden dowel or copper pipe to insert across the top for easy hanging and beautiful wall display! Each student will leave with one finished wall hanging\, one wooden weaving loom\, a handout with a recap of the skills\, terms\, and resources discussed in class\, and the skill to design and produce additional weaving projects on their loom at home! \n  \nPre-requisite: None. This class is ideal for total beginners with no experience. If you have taken our Intro to Weaving: Woven Tapestry Edition class\, please note that this bootcamp class teaches a different style of weaving\, uses a different loom\, and utilizes thicker yarns for the final wall hanging. This bootcamp is a fantastic compliment to the skills taught in the Intro to Weaving class\, but by no means requires any prior weaving experience. \n  \nSupplies Needed: None. We have done all the legwork of sourcing the hard-to-find yarns\, roving\, and a simple wooden loom. You will receive a loom that measures 17″ X 23″\, and is simple to disassemble for easy storage. These wooden looms usually run around $30 retail. Baskets will be made from multiple diameters of round reed which lend textural interest. The split spoke and twined construction of this basket base will boast a colorful spiral pattern.
