SUMMARY:Bodega Pastures Eco Print Workshop
DESCRIPTION:In this two day workshop at beautiful Bodega Pastures\, Cory of Earth my body (formerly The Moon) will lead you on a journey through the dreamy and sensuous practice of Eco-Printing. This dye technique is true to its name\, it is environmentally friendly and works like a dye print in which the image and energy of the dye plants are transferred to the textile. You’ll learn to work with wild harvested plant materials in a beautiful\, expressive\, and ethical way. We’ll use this magical technique to make living\, breathing textiles that have personal meaning and deep connection to the places we call home. You’ll finish class with a merino/silk loop scarf\, a silk habotai scarf/ hanging\, and a raw silk bandana. \nOctober 26th\, 11 am – 5 pm \nOctober 27th\, 11 am – 5 pm \nInstructor fee $200 per student \nMaterials fee $35 Includes all fabrics and a booklet \nPlease register by October 13th to ensure the class will happen and so I can order our beautiful fabrics in time. \nRegistration link here. \n  \nWe will be hosted at Bodega Pastures\, a beautiful 1000-acre sheep ranch located in west Sonoma County just outside of Bodega\, California on Coast Miwok. Bodega Pastures Sheep are managed in an organic and humane way. They research and utilize grazing and management methods that protect both sheep and the native coastal prairie ecosystem. \n  \nTeacher Bio: \nCory Gunter Brown is an artisan and empath who has practiced the entwined arts of sacred adornment and the handmade her whole life. She was born and raised in East Oakland and comes from a radical and creative family of dancers\, machinists\, artists\, and activists. Cory has learned the most powerful and beautiful truths in her life by listening to the voice of the Earth\, the voices of Indigenous Peoples present and past\, and her own inner voice. Through a decolonial lens\, her work with natural dyes\, and her relationship with the living Earth\, she’s come to understand that for every toxic\, abusive reality happening on this Earth\, there is another way that is far more compassionate\, elegant\, and balanced within the cycle of life. She’s learned that our bodies are an extension of the Earth and the Earth is an extension of our bodies\, and her choices in life now flow from that knowing. Cory spent ten years co-creating The Moon\, an Oakland based feminine clothing line made by local hands with natural fibers and natural dyes. She is now teaching natural dye workshops to adults and children\, producing a select few naturally dyed items each month\, and making plant infused body oils in collaboration with the plant beings from the land where she lives in Mendocino. Working with plants has changed her life.

SUMMARY:Spelt Weaving: An Ancient Tradition
DESCRIPTION:The ancient practice of weaving stalks of grain into intricate patterns comes from a time when people’s survival depended on the grain harvest. These designs vary from country to country\, but a similar belief in the fertility of the earth underlies them all. \nWoven from the last sheaf or best cut of the harvest\, straw work/corn dollies was a decorative way to store a bundle of seed over the winter so that the Spirit of the Grain could survive and be plowed back into the soil in the Springtime. Harvest customs such as straw plaiting were thought to bring blessing and prosperity to the community and its land. \nLearn about the history of wheat weaving and how to create your own “Welsh Fan” design out of spelt stalks harvested by the Mendocino Grain Project on Ridgewood Ranch. \nSpace is limited\, pre-register early to save your spot. \nAbout the Instructor: Anna Hope has lived in giant redwood trees\, planted fruit trees with children at their schools all over California\, converted diesel buses to run on vegetable oil\, made herbal medicine\, built natural homes\, and organized zero waste at events. She is versed in both permaculture principles and diversity awareness. She strongly appreciates the wisdom of many tribal cultures but has chosen to delve into her Celtic tribal roots instead of appropriating other cultures\, at the same time seeking justice for all. \nShe will be teaching this class with her mother\, Laura West.
