  This is a weekly 3-hour study group dedicated to exploring specific topics. The number of weeks will usually be four, but may vary as needed. The study can include weave structures or techniques such as lace weaves, double weave, drafting, or sectional warping. Classes will be a lecture with demonstrations or hands on weaving. Tapestry Frame Loom Weaving

In this beginning class, using a frame, you will learn how warp your loom, how to lay in the weft yarn for rug making, including plain weave, vertical and horizontal stripes. You will a learn how to create texture weaves like rya or using novelty yarns or roving. There will be an introduced to pictorial tapestry, making shapes and using more than one color. Using Lou's speed warping technique, each student  will learn how to calculate a warp, read drafts, and begin to understand how weave structure, color, texture, and design relate to each other. Taught by Lou Grantham.  All levels. Knitters, spinners, and soon-to-be weavers can weave a scarf in a day! We will wind a warp and weave a scarf using a variety of yarns. We will also discuss finishing techniques as well as ways to make the rigid heddle loom a more versatile loom. All experience levels and ages are welcome. Loom rental is included. Taught by Lou Grantham. In this playful one-day class you will learn the mechanics of weaving by winding your warp and threading a four-harness floor loom. You will learn to read pattern drafts and good weaving techniques. There will be a demonstration on how to wet finish your project. Taught by Lou Grantham. This comprehensive class will take you from fleece to yarn, using both the drop spindle and the spinning wheel. Learn about scouring, roving, carders, and flickers. You will explore long draw, short draw, worsted and woolen. Continuing students welcome. Bring your own wheel or rent one from instructor. If you have a spindle, bring it.
