Join Judi Pettite of Biohue and the PT Ranch family for a day of local dye and delicious food. This season, PT Ranch has grown their first Japanese Indigo crop, and Judi has collaborated with the Ranch to process the plants into pigment. Botanical blue is unlike any other dye in process and properties, and this workshop will share background information on creating the vat, then dive into dip dyeing and shibori resist techniques. Paired with the honey-brown hues of locally foraged black walnuts, this class offers participants a rich exploration of the color palette of the Sierra Foothills. Together with the course leaders, participants will enjoy a ranch-to-fork lunch on the beautiful Pope-Tayler family ranch.
