Fibershed Ukraine

We are the first Fibershed Affiliate in Eastern Europe and through affiliate we unite the initiatives around Ukraine related to natural textile, traditional textile practices and regenerative agriculture. Ukraine’s potential for textile is immense, however textile industry is almost non-existent, as well as awareness of regenerative and organic agriculture. Our current focus is reviving the ancient craft of hand-loomed hemp, researching the methods used by our ancestors to create local supply chains that generate jobs in rural areas.

As a new Affiliate, we’ve reconnected a network of weavers across Ukraine to prototype with hemp and linen yarns. We’ve also partnered with educational institutions to pass on the knowledge of working with natural fibres, aiming to keep these crafts alive. We bring initiatives with shared Fibershed values in Ukraine for joined mission to revive the local natural textile production.
