August 29 @ 11:00 am - 12:15 pm$20
Indigo extract is a versatile saturating pigment, an ideal art medium. It has good lightfastness, which makes it suitable for a variety of applications, and works well with a variety of binders.
In this online demo, Judi Pettite of BioHue will show you the basics of making water and oil-based paint using the pigment of Persicaria tinctoria (Japanese indigo), as well as a primer on ink and furniture stain.
Participants will be invited to submit questions.

A video of the webinar will be made available to webinar registrants within approximately two weeks of the event.
Judi Pettite started the BioHue project in 2006 to create plant-based pigments for use in her art practice. The project moved her beyond the studio and into the outdoors she loves. Through her workshops and products, Judi hopes to support and develop an interest in sustainable colors for artists.
This webinar is part of a series that will be streaming live via Zoom from the Fibershed Learning Center,
The Fibershed Learning Center is a multi-use space to demonstrate and provide hands-on connections to natural fiber and dye systems. The Learning Center will open later this year in Point Reyes Station, California, on the traditional and ancestral territory of the Coast Miwok and within the historic Black Mountain Ranch property.
During this time of sheltering in place, we are pleased to begin offering a series of online classes via Zoom. Proceeds from each event support the class instructor and contribute to Fibershed for educational programming. A portion of the proceeds from each virtual event will also be shared with a local and mission-aligned non-profit organization, selected by the instructor. Currently scheduled online events are listed on our Learning Center page.
