Day Two: Regional Dye Palette

Spend a day in beautiful Moss Beach exploring the regional fungi of California. Using a selection of fresh and dried dye fungi, we will dye a rainbow of samples. We will discuss the special techniques required for optimal results with each fungal pigment group. We will also have a few pots of the most common dye species for dyeing silk scarves. All supplies are provided for this workshop.

Participants receive a procedural handout, a customized guide to local dye fungi and a beautiful hand dyed scarf. This workshop covers all aspects of getting started with mushroom and lichen dyes and leaves the student with the tools to carry on with their own exploration.
