Class 2: Rooted thread: Pine Needle Basketry (Waxed Thread)

In this beginner-friendly workshop, we’ll explore pine needle basketry and the history of pine needle weaving. Using waxed linen thread for a colorful and structured result, participants will learn to weave a base, add stitches, shape their form, and incorporate decorative elements.

All needles are hand-harvested and prepped by me, with an emphasis on sustainable foraging practices. Students will leave with a beautiful basket start (or finished piece depending on pace) and the knowledge to continue weaving at home.

Maximum 15 students.

Participants should bring:

• Any personal snacks, lunch, and beverages. Coffee and tea will be provided.
• A notebook and pen for note taking is encouraged.
• Comfortable clothing and shoes are recommended. Students will be seating for long periods.
• Feel free to bring a floor pillow or cushion for added comfort; other seating will be available
