My flock of 40 Merino sheep graze in annual grasslands, vineyards, and orchards located on the west side of the Sacramento Valley in Yolo County. This provides fire and weed control as well as promoting pasture improvement, especially for ground nesting birds. As a spinner and weaver, I am also interested in selecting sheep that produce high quality fleeces for hand spinners. The sheep are coated to reduce the weed seed load in their wool and I have recently started to do some crossbreeding with colored Corriedale sheep for greater fleece variety.
