Tamar Ingber has been hide-tanning as a practice since 2020, with a focus on small ruminants. She has worked with a variety of regenerative ranches. Her brand, Or Shelli, translate to mean ‘my animal skin,’ as well as ‘my light’ from two different Hebrew transliterations. The physical practice of transformation connects her to a legacy of humans using all of an animal’s body to sustain life- and to her own ancestors who worked with textiles.
She uses both egg/smoke and tannin-bath methods to transform a raw pelt into a sustainable material for our lives. She loves sharing this process in workshops and one-on-one settings.
