Lorraine Nielsen is a fiber artisan creating handspun yarns and knitted/felted/woven products with wool from her own flock of majestic Jacob sheep using natural colors or forest and garden dyes. Inspiration for Lorraine’s fiber creations comes from an intimate relationship with the natural world and the whole process: raising the sheep, preparing the fibers by hand, the feel of each individual fleece, and the magic of respectfully-foraged natural dyes. The harmonious interplay of function and beauty and the versatility of natural fibers and colors is exhibited in the variety of forms she creates: from original knitwear to delicate, felted scarves and bold, felted wine sleeves to small, colorful tapestries to playful yarns and botanically-printed recycled wearables.
