The Mercery is a California based heirloom textile manufacturer that is committed to bringing ethically made, handwoven fabrics to the design industry by connecting artisan weavers to a market that values and sustains their work.

The Mercery’s library of handwoven, thread-dyed cotton and wool textiles is sold exclusively to the trade and wholesale in small runs as private label pillows, bedding and table top linens for select home goods boutiques and interior designers.

The Mercery’s fabrics are sourced in person from weaving collectives and made by master artisans, the vast majority of whom are women of Indigenous descent working in home workshops. All products are sewn in small batches by our partner workshops in California.

Mercery Founder, Liz Alspach, is an artist and designer who builds organizations and forges relationships as tools for imagining and achieving radical futures. Her book, 2+2=Cake, (www.twoplustwoequalscake.info) explores possibilities in business and art by sharing how ten groundbreaking artists approach entrepreneurship. Liz founded The Mercery in 2022 on the heels of completing her masters thesis in Oaxaca, Mexico. She has been working full-time since to orient the ethically focused textile manufacturer towards disruptive business models while showing up everyday with resolve and humility. Liz holds a BA from Carleton College and an MFA from the University of Arkansas.
