Learn 8 of the basic stitches used in embroidery
Join us at the beautiful Fibershed Learning Center on Black Mountain Ranch near Point Reyes Station, CA, where we will be learning basic embroidery stitches from artist Arwyn Moonrise.
You will be provided a pre-drawn design that includes each of these stitches, giving you time to learn and practice. There is also space to add to the piece in free form. There will be plenty of time for individual attention and answering everyone’s questions.
All needed materials will be provided. We will be using embroidery thread that has been naturally dyed with locally-grown plants.
This workshop is great for beginners or those with some experience looking to refine technique and skill. You will be able to take all materials home with you to continue the practice!
Maximum 15 students.

Please bring: personal snacks, lunch and beverages (a selection of teas will be served on site). We are in a rural location, so most people bring their lunch rather than drive to town.
Arwyn is also teaching an Embroidery Project workshop at the Fibershed Learning Center on August 6th. Information and enrollment for that workshop here: eventbrite.com/e/559213672147
Arwyn Moonrise is an embroidery artist with a natural gift for teaching the craft in a fun and practical manner. She learned to embroider during her childhood watching her mother mend and adorn the families clothing on their organic blueberry farm in rural Maine, and reconnected with stitching later in life. Fueled by her passion for creating, recognizing the power of bespoke sacred garments, and wanting to help reduce fashion waste by giving vintage/used clothing new life, she started her custom embroidery business, Township 31 (named after the township in Maine she grew up in).
Arwyn creates one-of-a-kind custom pieces for her clients as a way to create sacred adornment through the art of prayer and storytelling. Her work is executed with technical precision and intricacy. She has been teaching embroidery for the last 10 years all over the Bay Area and truly believes that EVERYONE can tell story and create beauty through stitching.

BONUS: The Clothing Swap Closet is now open during workshops and events at the Fibershed Learning Center!
Visit the Clothing Swap Closet when you attend a workshop or event at the Learning Center and exchange your 100% natural fiber garments and accessories. Your clothing contributions must be clean and in good condition. Each contribution entities you to choose one item of comparable value.
You may depart up to an hour after the workshop ends, to allow time to browse and try on items in the closet, and make your trade!
