Join the UC Hopland Research and Extension Center to celebrate science and nature at this spectacular site. Hands on field experiences and a delicious farm to table luncheon with live music and auction will all be available.

Our celebration will begin with an optional field session, get involved with our work by meeting researchers and experiencing their projects hands on!

• Drones for post-fire research – watch drones in action and understand how they can be used to help research and manage our landscapes with Shane Feirer, UCANR IGIS.
• Oak woodlands regeneration – help to protect young oaks at HREC and learn about efforts to support our oak woodlands.
• Wildlife – Learn why HREC is such an important location for wildlife research with Dr. Jacalyn Beck.
• Pond restoration – and the hoped for return of the red-legged frog.
• Sheep – Meet the HREC flock with head shepherd Alison Smith and learn about the ways in which they help research and education.
• Fire Science for Schools – build you own burn board and tinker tree to learn about our fire programming for youth (and adults!).
• Hike with our Blue Zones Walking Moai.

Following the field session we will gather at the Rod Shippey Hall to enjoy our own HREC lamb (vegetarian/vegan options available), alongside other farm to table produce. Live music a live auction and a chance to hear directly from our researchers will be offered during the meal. We look forward to welcoming you and celebrating with you.
