Learning Center Studio
Set at the base of Black Mountain, surrounded by beautiful coastal landscapes, the Fibershed Learning Center Studio is a membership-based, multi-use creative space offered to our community of artisans, artists and students interested in strengthening connections between land stewardship and fiber systems.
Learning Center Studio Hours
The Fibershed Learning Center Studio is open Monday – Friday*.
We offer a morning and afternoon session: Studio members can book partial or full days
- Morning: 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
- Afternoon: 1 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
*Please note that the studio will be closed on major holidays and occasionally other weekdays for alternative use.
Artisan Membership
The Fibershed Learning Center Studio membership is a 6-month, biannual membership. We offer two studio periods throughout the year:
- January 3 – June 30 (applications open November 16)
- July 5 – December 30 (applications open May 2)
Membership Offerings:
- Access to the studio for up to 12 sessions within a 6-month period. (1 session = 3.5 hours. Studio members can book partial or full days).
- Use of our dye, lake pigment-making and sewing equipment.
- Learning Center Studio artisan-member gathering at the end of each studio membership period — an opportunity for studio members to share their projects with one another.
- Access to purchase partner-farmed dye materials and extracts from Learning Center Studio shop.
Membership Cost:
Sliding scale: $150, 200, $250

Studio Guidelines:
The Learning Center is a shared-use space. We require everyone to follow the guidelines found here.
Studio Space
- Our 20′ x 30′ studio is primarily set-up for natural dying, natural pigment processing, and sewing.
- Equipped with a movable 7′ multi-use table, storage cubbies, industrial sink, propane burners, industrial sewing machines, dye pots and tools.
- There are two large garage doors that can be opened for abundant natural light and fresh air. They open up to a 10’x30′ patio also available for studio use.
- Yardage of Climate Beneficial Wool™ fabric and limited quantities of mordants and dye assists will be available for studio members for purchase.
