If you’re reading this, you already have at least an inkling that the fashion industry is causing unnecessary harm. And you’re right: The way the fashion industry has evolved creates a massive strain on the environment, workers, and communities.
Consumers have the ability to turn the tide. While big players in fashion should be held accountable for their outsized impact on our planet at every level, the simplest way the rest of us can advocate for change is with our spending habits, with the way we choose and wear our clothes, and with our voices.
With this Slow Fashion Challenge, we encourage you to make ethical fashion choices a priority in the days, weeks, months, and years to come. Each morning for the next week, we’ll send you an email with an action item or two—steps you can take that day or plan for down the road that will help you make clothing choices that are in line with your values.
When you sign up for our Slow Fashion Challenge, you’ll also be signed up for our regular email list. We only send a couple of emails a month, and we think you’ll like them! If you ever want to change your email settings, though, you’ll have the ability to do so from the bottom of every email we send.
Fiber producers, artisans, designers, and makers are developing regional fiber systems all around the world. Help us support their work! We’re asking for donations to the Threading Resilience fundraiser until September 15. Every dollar donated will be matched by Fibershed up to $50,000.
